Wholesale Business Guide
The fundamentals of beauty wholesale
Wholesale is about buying well, holding the right stock and keeping retailers coming back. These are the basics every wholesaler should know.
Key terms
MOQ
Minimum order quantity: the smallest amount you can buy of one product.
Wholesale price
The trade price before your own margin is added.
Margin
Selling price minus cost, as a share of the selling price.
Lead time
How long from order to stock on your shelf.
Stock turn
How often you sell through and replace your stock.
Account
A retailer who buys from you regularly.
Working out a margin
Example: you buy a product for ৳500 and sell it to a shop for ৳600. Your margin is ৳100, which is about 17% of the selling price. The shop then adds its own margin for the end customer.
- Include delivery and packaging in your cost
- Leave room for the retailer’s margin
- Compare prices across sizes and brands
- Use offers to move slow stock rather than deep cuts on best sellers
Relationships that keep a wholesale business healthy
- With suppliers: pay on time, order regularly, share what sells
- With retailers: reliable stock, fair prices, quick replies
- Clear price lists that are updated often
